The Baptist Deliverance Study Group (BDSG) is a unique initiative dedicated to equipping Baptist ministers in the safe and informed practice of deliverance ministry. Launched in early 2018 as a pilot project by the North West Baptist Association, its core mission is to provide a vital resource for ministers, including those in training, through:

  • Research: Deepening understanding of deliverance ministry.
  • Reflection: Encouraging thoughtful engagement with its complexities.
  • Resourcing: Providing practical tools and information.
  • Support: Offering guidance and a network for ministers.

Since 2022, Pastor Matt Tricker, based in South Wales, has led the project, continuing the important work started by the late Jayne Irlam. The BDSG itself is comprised of experienced Baptist ministers and medical professionals, ensuring a holistic and responsible approach.

When to Contact the BDSG

If a congregant approaches you with experiences such as strange appearances or supernatural activity, and you find yourself unsure how to discern the root cause—be it a hoax, mental health concern, the influence of media, or something more spiritual—the BDSG is available to help. They offer a point of contact for ministers seeking guidance and support in navigating these sensitive and often challenging situations. Pastor Matt can be contacted at riverwildrev@gmail.com

Hi , thankful to come to a platform that addresses a subject which is applicable for most of my working days in an acute mental health hospital.
I am ashamed to say that after 33 years as a christian before I became a full time employee of the health service I very rarely concluded and discerned when a person church member or not manifested. This lack of understanding deprived me of being useful to God in family, work and church situations across those 33 years.
I pray that God utilises this platform to bring awareness, and discernment to this area of conflict to the broader church world wide.
    Sincere thanks Tim
